ACS launches Real Men Wear Pink Campaign

Eleven prominent men from Western New York will soon be wearing more of the color pink as part of the inaugural "Real men wear pink" campaign.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Eleven prominent men from Western New York will soon be wearing more of the color pink as part of the inaugural "Real men wear pink" campaign.

The American Cancer Society is starting the campaign as a way to encourage women to take action to fight breast cancer. The participating men are also competing against each other all October to raise the most funds for cancer research.

"I think really it's about a passion around getting the word out. Making sure that everybody in our community has good access to care and has great outcomes from their care," said Dr, Richard Vienne with Univera Healthcare.

The American Cancer Society says more than 16,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, in New York State alone.
