HAMBURG, N.Y. — If you're looking to talk with an expert about home improvements or need a little inspiration for a do-it-yourself project, you can check out the Western New York Home and Outdoor Living Show happening this weekend at the Event Center at the Hamburg Fairgrounds.
There are more than 150 vendors offering products and services to help you spruce up your home, breathe some new life into your backyard, and everything in between.
This year's show also features a tiny home. It's about 10' x 40' and is for sale for around $100,000.
"The design is wonderful, and I think that's key. There's a bedroom. There's a loft. Full kitchen, bathroom. There's really not much more that you need," show promoter Mark Concilla said. "It definitely looks like a high-end apartment. What I would do is park it right next to the ocean, and then you'd have a high-end apartment with a view!"
Feel free to dream when it comes to elaborate home renovations, but the experts say it's best to have an idea of what you want, what you need, and most importantly, a realistic budget.
"Be realistic in your choices based on your house. Not every house needs an $80,000 or $100,000 kitchen," Joshua Phillips of Finish Line Restoration and Remodeling told 2 On Your Side.
You don't have to commit to anything at the show, but if you are serious about a project and want to get the ball rolling, come prepared — bring photos, know dimensions, and again, have a budget in mind.
Elizabeth Bonadonna, owner of Busy Beaver Lawn and Garden, says when it comes to landscaping, know the space you have to work with.
"Some people will put plants that will look pretty but don't match the environment. Sun versus shade or they put too much in an area. They don't think about how big or fast it's going to grow," Bonadonna said.
She also said that people don't realize that landscaping projects can take years to reach maturity.
