BUFFALO, N.Y. β If the eclipse on Monday has you in the mood for a sweet treat to celebrate, we went looking for some places around town to find one this weekend.
At Fairycakes Cupcakery in North Buffalo, they're making the most of this once in a lifetime event.
"We're doing a lot of eclipse decorating, so we're getting all the cookies done," co-owner Mo Torpy told 2 On Your Side on Friday morning. "We've got an eclipse birthday cake coming up, we're working on the eclipse wedding for Monday. All kinds of fun eclipse cookies."
Pre-orders are closed, but they'll be available for walk-ups at the bake shop Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"We'll have cookies, we'll have cakesicles, we'll have all kinds of fun themed stuff tomorrow," Torpy said.
At Lake Effect Ice Cream in Lockport, their eclipse ice cream cone has been incredibly popular all week.
Each one comes with a scoop of butterbeer ice cream on a sugar cone covered in chocolate dip. Take a bite, and you see the eclipse right in your hand!
The cones cost $3.18 each, in honor of the time Western New York will experience totality.
The Blue Eyed Baker in East Aurora will also have a limited amount of eclipse pastries all weekend until Monday.
According to the shop's Facebook page, they open at 7 a.m. Monday, and will close from 3-3:30 p.m. for the staff to view the eclipse.
Paula's Donuts created two different donuts for the event.
The eclipse donut has a chocolate frosting-covered Oreo in the middle, and a galaxy donut has a blue marble design with edible glitter.
Paula's also has eclipse t-shirts for sale. A note, all Paula's shops will close at noon the day of the eclipse.
For the dog lovers, Molly Brown Cookie Company will be selling dog eclipse cookies at the Allen Street Eclipse Party with the Buffalo Barkery Saturday.
