BUFFALO, N.Y. — At Stitch Buffalo's new home on Plymouth Avenue, they have a lot to celebrate.
"On a daily basis we are running our retail shop and accepting donations. We're also accepting alterations and repair work. We're running the refugee women's workshop which is a service to the refugee and immigrant women that live and work here in Buffalo, and they come to Stitch Buffalo to get the supplies they need to make products that they then sell and earn an income," Founder Dawn Hoeg said.
Something else they're celebrating with their partners at the Water Buffalo Club 716, is Josh Allen's Birthday.
"It's world cultural diversity day and it's Josh Allen's birthday it's just a match made in heaven for all three parts of the event," Water Buffalo Club Founder Therese Forton-Barnes said.
The deluxe Water Buffalo hats are handmade by Stitch Buffalo sewers.
"When we started with the Water Buffalo Club and manufacturing their hats for them, the women didn't know who the Buffalo Bills were," Hoeg said. "It's been a wonderful introduction to that community that are in the city in which they live."
While you might not be thinking of a warm fuzzy hat on a hot day, part of the proceeds right now go to a good cause.
"Seventeen percent of all hat sales today through Sunday, we're celebrating Josh Allen week, not just his birthday, will go to the Patricia Allen Fund at Oisehi Children's Hospital," Forton-Barnes said.
Oishei Children's Hospital is also celebrating Josh Allen's birthday, with a Giving Day donation drive to benefit the moms, kids and babies who receive care there.
