Taste of Buffalo adds some Southern charm with Savannah trolley tour

The Surprisingly Savannah trolley tour will visit the Taste of Buffalo this weekend to encourage Buffalonians to visit the Georgia city.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — It may be called the Taste of Buffalo, but a first-time attraction at the festival this year came all the way from Savannah, Ga.

"We are here for the Surprisingly Savannah Mobile Tour. We are visiting 11 cities this year, and Buffalo is one of them," Kim Webster Liebgott, Visit Savannah's marketing manager, told 2 On Your Side.

"We want you to think of Savannah when you plan your next getaway. Especially this winter when it's really cold and there's snow, come on down south and enjoy our southern hospitality and charm."

Webster Liebgott said they chose Buffalo for a tour stop because they had noticed an increase of Western New Yorkers visiting the city and enjoying the walkability, outdoor dining, and history.

"We're noticed that we've had several Buffalo people or a lot of Buffalo people coming down to Savannah, so we thought we really wanted to increase that number," she said.

For the still unacquainted, the trolley on tour is just like the one you'll see if you visit Savannah in person.

"It's one of the things I always recommend you do when you first come to Savannah, take a trolley ride around town," Webster Leibgott said. "They go to different museums and houses and all kinds of places. It really gives you the lay of the land in Savannah."

At the Taste of Buffalo, visitors can stop by the trolley to try samples of Savannah products, including honey from the Savannah Bee Company and pralines from the Savannah Candy Kitchen. There will also be prizes for people who correctly answer Savannah trivia questions.

Look for the Surprisingly Savannah Trolley in Niagara Square near Delaware Avenue during the Taste of Buffalo from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

The Taste of Buffalo runs 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
