American Cornhole League Champion visiting Orchard Park this weekend

Lockport Native and American Cornhole League Professional Lori Dool will host a charity tournament on Saturday at Wings in Orchard Park.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Lori Dool's cornhole journey started out like most backyard players.

"You start playing in the backyard or at Buffalo Bills games, you know any of those tailgates," she told 2 On Your Side. "It just kind of took off."

That's how the Lockport native found herself regularly competing on national television as a pro in the American Cornhole League, often wearing a Bills cap for the competitions.

"It was my biggest goal on my whiteboard, was just the road to ESPN," she said. "That's all I wanted to do was just make TV. Now we're up here and we're competing with the best of the best and we're winning."

Dool and her partner recently took first place in the Women's Doubles at the ACL National Championships in Milwaukee.

"It's just so wild to kind of be in that momentum because I've had a regular career. I've worked in public education for 16 years, so it's been kind of a wild shift in a career path, but a lot of fun at the same time."

As a die-hard Bills fan, one of the highlights of her cornhole career has been playing with Dion Dawkins, who she's shared some fun celebrations with.

"I've gotten to play with him twice, and he has the best celebrations," she said. "Any time I can just give him a giant high five, I think that's probably the best celebration. It looks kind of funny because he's 6 foot 5, and I'm obviously a lot smaller than that."

Lori is based in Florida, but she'll be at Wings in Orchard Park on Saturday hosting a tournament to raise money for local causes, including the Boys and Girls Club.

"It's going to be a lot of fun, a lot of families, and a lot of community, and I'm really looking forward to being back even if it's just for a short couple of days," Dool said.

There's still time to sign your team up through the Orchard Park Chamber of Commerce website.
