BUFFALO, N.Y. — Just because a snowstorm hits, that doesn't mean pizza delivery should stop.
That's the idea behind a new program sending money towards Buffalo's snow-clearing operations for next year.
"I'm here and excited to represent the Department of Public Works in receiving this grant from Domino's Pizza," Buffalo's Director of Streest and Sanitation Wilmer Olivencia Jr. said at a press conference Thursday morning.
Yes, you read that correctly.
As we all know, Buffalo has had some serious snowfall the last few years.
So it's no surprise that the city was one of twenty cities the pizza chain chose for their 'Plowing for Pizza' program.
"We're super super happy to receive this money," Olivencia, Jr. said. "We've discussed a number of options in utilizing the grant that we're going to receive, in reference to possibly getting some new snow blades, or some salt, or even possibly getting a new snow plow for next year's winter season."
The City of Buffalo spent more than $6 million on snow clearing this January alone, but every little bit can help, especially if it means getting your pizza delivery faster.
"We're looking forward to next year and being ready with the proper equipment," Olivencia, Jr. said.
Domino's is giving away $500,000 to towns in need of plowing assistance, and people can nominate their town by clicking here.
