LEWISTON, N.Y. — The Village Bake Shoppe is a staple in the Lewiston community.
It's been around for more than 30-years.
Michael Fiore and his wife took over the business around 13-years ago.
"We started when we were kids, and it went like a blink of an eye," Fiore explained. "It's been amazing. We've had a lot of great years, some ups and downs, and thank God we're still here."
For years now, the couple has watched the business grow.
"You can look around the room, and there's history. There's a lot of great people that have come through here," Fiore explained.
The bakery has a customer base that continues to grow. Many visitors like Antonio Ventry come back year after year.
Ventry said, "It's a great vibe. It's a comfy feeling when you're here. You just feel relaxed."
Fiore said, "Going through the last 13 years of a pandemic and crazy economy, people are still coming in. We're able to bring joy to them, and they bless us more than they realize."
Harry Wright is 90-years old. He said he's been coming here for almost ten years.
He said they have "good food here," He told us he tried "just about everything you possibly could."
As the holiday season approaches, they've been extra busy.
Thanksgiving marks one of their busiest times of the year, with preparations starting a month ago.
"Right now, we're in that last final push through Thanksgiving," Fiore explained.
They aren't taking any more Thanksgiving orders but Fiore said, they have plenty of desserts to offer in their cases.
They've had hundreds of orders for all kinds of desserts, including pie.
Fiore said a customer favorite is their Mile High Apple Pie.
It's made with locally grown apples from Wagner Farms in Sanborn. It's topped with a homemade strudel topping.
"We thinly slice the apples and layer them up with the strudel topping. People love that," Michael said.
Fiore said, there is something for everyone including fruit pies to cream pies and the mincemeat pie.
They also offer a wide range of other desserts, like cheesecakes, cakes, cookies, dessert platters and more.
At the Village Bake Shoppe, it's not only about satisfying your sweet tooth, but also creating memories and fostering a sense of community.
"We are nothing without each other," Fiore explained. "We are so blessed to have incredible talent, wonderful people who care about this place, love their job, and love their community."
