LOCKPORT, N.Y. โ The holiday spirit is not only being felt inside the Kenan Center in Lockport, but also outside. There's a special delivery from the North Pole and it's spreading joy throughout the community.
Thanks to a direct connection with Santa, kids can drop off their letters to Mr. Claus in the red mailbox outside.
The mailbox was sent from the North Pole to go out at the Kenan Center on Locust Street around Thanksgiving. The last day to submit letters is Wednesday, Dec. 18.
If you are looking to receive a response from Santa, your letters must be sent with a return address. Santa will write you a note back.
Over the years, the Santa Project has grown. Lea Sobieraski is the Assistant Director of the Kenan Center. She said it's become a tradition for many families.
The spirit of the season extends beyond the Santa Project at the Kenan Center, where the holiday festivities are in full swing. Sobieraski said the Kenan Center prides itself on offering events for all to enjoy.
At the Taylor Theater, there's the Kenan Christmas Cabaret, an 80-minute show that fills the theater with holiday music. Performances are held Thursday through Sunday, with evening shows at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Additionally, on Monday, Dec. 23, the Kenan Center is hosting a Holiday Play Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in their arena. This event offers a chance for parents to take care of last-minute holiday shopping or wrapping while kids enjoy a fun-filled day. Activities include a bounce house, soccer dartboard, Christmas crafts, and more.
