Buffalo Restaurant Week returns this month

The week of deals runs Monday, April 15 to Sunday, April 21.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — "We love doing restaurant week in this house," James Beard finalist Ryan Fernandez said at the kickoff to the spring edition of the biannual event at his restaurant, Southern Junction, on Connecticut Street.

"This is the first time we're doing it in this sit-down restaurant, because we were at take out only for about three and a half years," he said. "So just flipping it now to more of a dine in location and going with that, it's great, it's a lot of fun."

The week of specials starts next Monday, which times up well with another big round of visitors coming to the area.

"We will have three dance competitions, as well as a curling event, as well as the beginning of a snow symposium convention that will come in but they'll be here for the weekend of restaurant week," Visit Buffalo Niagara president Patrick Kaler said.

It will be tiered pricing again, with deals for $15, $25, and $45 for lunch and $25, $45, and $65 for dinner.

"This at least allows multiple restaurants to decide which price point they would like to put themselves in, which gives us even more restaurants to participate."

There are 90 restaurants signed up so far, with more expected to join.

"This is a great opportunity," Gypsy Parlor Owner Gabrielle Mattina said. "When people see that we're participating they come check out our food they love it. We have an international menu."

Inn Manager Daniel Garvey of the Roycroft Inn says the event has improved since Visit Buffalo Niagara took it over.

"For as many years as I've been doing local restaurant week at the Roycroft Inn it's never been better than it has right now," Garvey said.  "So get out the website, start looking, make your plans and go out and enjoy what we have to offer here in Buffalo."
