BUFFALO, N.Y. — They have children's books, sci-fi, mystery, records, CDs, even a section just for dusty old books.
"I'm a lover of books, I'm a retired librarian, and I own a book store but I can't pass up a book sale," Sharon Holley told 2 On Your Side.
Neither could the hundreds of people who have shopped at the central library's used book sale so far.
"We opened yesterday. We have 12,000 materials to sell including books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl, we have a ton," Assistant Deputy Director of Development and Communications Joy Testa Cinquino said.
The best part for shoppers? Everything costs only a quarter. Fill up a whole bag, and it will only cost you a dollar.
The money from the sale will go to purchase new books for the library.
"We are continuously weeding our collections. We have more than 3,000 items that people can borrow. and we are always buying new books," Cinquino said.
Library supporters were happy to help them make the room.
"I love books and I love reading to my children," Elizabeth Neswadi said. "We're home schooling, so I was hoping to maybe grab some more books to read to them."
Jazmine Ingram added: "I came out for my kids, because they're in school today we didn't want to miss if they had good books out. I got some books for my kids and I found some for myself."
The book sale wraps up Saturday, when it will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"We're looking for books, interesting books. audio books, DVDs, just things that take an interest to her and that she likes and that we can build our library up," said Lakasha Gunner, who brought her 5-year-old daughter, Nyra.
