BUFFALO, N.Y. — Griffin's on Abbott Road in South Buffalo used to be strictly a pub.
"We haven't had food here in about 20 some years, probably closer to 30," Owner Deli Mariani said.
Mariani was a longtime bartender at the establishment, before she and her husband Rich bought the place a little over a year ago.
Now, Griffin's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
"We started with two dollar French fries and then it kind of lasted longer with the Covid rules than people anticipated," she said.
Next came breakfast sandwiches.
"It took off and went really well and one day we made a couple samples, posted pictures and we had a line down the street for Sunday brunch," said Mariani.
For South Buffalo's first-ever Restaurant Week, which kicks off Saturday, December 2, Griffins will be showcasing some of the dishes they've become known for.
"Our beef on wecks and our Rubens are our staples," Mariani said. "We do everything by hand. We don't have anything really frozen on stock. Everything is fresh, made to order."
"All the participating restaurants have discounts or buy ten wings, get five free, like griffin's here has," Michael Weidrich, Executive Director of the South Buffalo Community Association said. "Every place has something a little different.

"We did these wonderful passport books, but as soon as we sent it to print it was out of date because we had more businesses coming saying oh we want to get on the list," Weidrich said.
Whether you're coming to eat, drink, or shop, it's a festive time to visit South Buffalo with the whole family.
"We do a lot of community work and we do a big Christmas toy drive, so it gives us an opportunity to connect with our neighbors in our community and let them know we're here, and that it's family friendly, and it gives us an opportunity to meet a whole bunch of new people that don't know about us yet," Mariani said.
South Buffalo Restaurant Week runs through December 9th, which is also Shop South Buffalo Weekend.
