BUFFALO, N.Y. — For many, waking up early on a day off from work or school to run 5 miles with thousands of people in the cold doesn't sound very fun, but it's a time-honored tradition for thousands of Western New York families.
The Turkey Trot is the longest consecutively run road race in North America, and this year's race is once again sold out at 14,000 participants. It's a fundraiser for YMCA Buffalo Niagara. The 8K route will take them from Delaware and Tacoma, in North Buffalo, all the way downtown to the convention center.
The creative costumes runners wear for the Turkey Trot is one of the biggest draws of the race. If you want to participate in or see the costume contest, you must arrive to the stage by the YMCA by 8:30. Runners are also encouraged to bring 2 cans of food for our Food to Families drive benefiting Feed More WNY.
