BUFFALO, N.Y. — Dave Constantino got to live out his dream of playing in a rock band. Best known for being part of the band Talas, Constantino has been seen in many local groups over the past several decades. Now, he's helping other musicians get the chance to perform classic rock.
Dave and his partner Suzanne run Limelight Music on Main Street in East Aurora. It's part store, part rock music incubator. Dave teaches lessons out of the shop. Working with students inspired him to start forming bands, so in 2009, they started Limelite University.
Dave and the other music teachers audition the musicians, divide them up into bands, coach them through rehearsals, and prepare them for live performances.
"It's 10 years. This is the tenth year we've been doing it, and the kids are great. At first they're a little bit shy about the whole thing, but you can see them grow as the years go on," Constantino told 2 On Your Side.
The Limelite University bands will perform at East Aurora's Backyard Bash series Thursday, August 1 at 6:30 p.m.
