Hundreds of Thanksgiving Eve early bird travelers take off from Buffalo Niagara International Airport

Traveling on one of the busiest days of the year at the airport can be hectic, but some people still had time to stop and share what they're thankful for.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Traveling on one of the busiest days of the year at the airport can be hectic, but some people at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport still had time to stop and share what they're thankful for on Wednesday morning.

Arissa and Liz, members of the Buffalo State University Bengals hockey team, were both catching early flights to their hometowns after a late night game the night before.

"We're going home for Thanksgiving," said Arissa, who was on her way to Illinois.

"My family, friends, and my hockey team," said Liz, who was traveling to Texas.

A Western New Yorker named Deborah, was going on a Thanksgiving adventure to Florida.

"To see my grandson that I haven't seen in five years because of COVID," she said. "So I'm totally excited and I'm thankful to be going to see family, I'm thankful for time off finally, it's been a long time coming."

Another woman who was traveling to Georgia said she was looking forward to some warmer weather and sunshine.

"I'm thankful for my family, I'm thankful to still be walking on this earth, and I'm thankful for everyone that's around me," she said.

"I am thankful for my family most of all and also for my faith," said Laurie of Bemus Point. She and her husband Greg were taking a trip to Chicago to visit the aquarium, museums and attend the parade.

"Family and friends, we're going to miss you over Thanksgiving, but we'll see you at Christmas time," Greg said.
