WYOMING COUNTY, N.Y. — Dave and Janet Phillips spent a decade roaming much of WNY and the Northeast seeking out antiques related to Coca-Cola.
The collection spontaneously started with a $5 purchase of a vintage glass pitcher in West Virginia. Since then, hundreds of items relating to the iconic beverage company were collected by the adventurous couple.
Phillips decided to build a space for their remarkable assemblage at 3872 Sowerby Rd. in Silver Springs, NY. His planned second-floor display quickly spilled over to the 1st floor, and the Coca-Cola Barn Museum was born.
His wife, Janet, passed away just before she could see the finished museum so, he has made it in her honor as a reflection of good times being grandparents together. Times like when they would use that pitcher to serve the refreshing beverage to their visiting grandchildren.
You can find items like vintage bottles, limited edition antiques, glasses and really anything Coca-Cola themed you can think of.
Dave's two favorite items are the glass pitcher that started this journey and a lovely Coke-themed quilt that hangs on the wall, made by Janet before she unexpectedly passed away. There is tremendous sentimental value to this collection on both floors of the museum are as trip through time, and American history.
The unique barn museum is just a few minutes away from Letchworth State Park and is open most days in the summer and fall. You'll know when the barn is welcoming customers if you see the Coca-Cola flags out.
