BUFFALO, N.Y. — A brand new partnership is coming to downtown Buffalo's Theatre District.
Starting in October of 2025, Shea's 710 Theatre will be the official home of MusicalFare, a theatre company that is currently housed on Daemen University's campus.
"It's not a typical landlord-tenant lease. It's a collaboration and cooperative agreement," said Randall Kramer, MusicalFare Theatre founder, as well as artistic and executive director.
Instead of collecting a rent check, Shea's Performing Arts Center will instead take a portion of revenues made by MusicalFare.
It's a partnership that comes after MusicalFare pulled out of plans to move into a new space in Amherst Central Park this past August.
It's a change of plans that Kramer said just happened to work out.
"When you just compare what we were just talking about compared to where we are at now, I think an objective eye would say this is actually better for your theatre company," Kramer said.
The two theatre companies are also looking at the partnership as a possible economic booster.
"The only way that you get business activity here is that you introduce more people to the space that wouldn't ordinarily be here," said Brian Higgins, CEO of Shea's Performing Arts Center.
MusicalFare will finish out its theatre season, which goes until April, at its current location at Daemen University.
