BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Writers Guild ended its strike, but the Actors Guild remains on strike over a new contract.
It's having an impact on Buffalo.
Buffalo Niagara Film Commissioner Tim Clark said "Three or four, pretty good-sized productions were slated to shoot in late 2023. Those are now pushed into the new year, presumably waiting for everything to get back to normal."
He said the strike has "really knocked the socks off of production here." It is prolonging productions that were scheduled to come here."
Clark has been in touch with movie executives and studio executives and he said they are concerned.
There is an economic loss.
"Sound stages that exist now are empty," he added "You know this is going to affect everybody and it's and it affects vendors, it affects local lumberyards, local hotels."
One movie that was slated to shoot in Buffalo has decided to go overseas. However, Clark is hopeful that may change.
