Niagara Falls, Canada set to sparkle for the Winter Festival of Lights

Niagara Falls, Canada is visited year-round, not only for the Falls but also for the mesmerizing winter lights.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights, on the Canadian side, is back again for another year of shining one of the most-visited sites.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. on November 18 and runs until January 7. The Winter Festival of Lights will include the sparkling illumination of the falls, a hot chocolate trail, Santa meet and greet with photo opportunities, fireworks and music.

During the winter season, not only will the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls be illuminated, the Niagara Park Trail surrounding them will be too.

Director if Horticulture at Niagara Parks, Charles Hunter, shared with Daybreak's Kevin O'Neill what to expect this year.

"This year is a little more playful, we have more light activations. I wanna say experiential celebration," Hunter said.

There will be multiple different stops within the self-guided trail for hot chocolate treats to keep warm and enjoyable. There will be options for children and adults both non-alcoholic and alcoholic.

For those who would like to take another scenic route, can visit the indoor poinsettia show in Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse which begins on November 19 until January 13. Tickets for the indoor light floral show can be purchased online here.

While the floral show requires a ticket purchase, the outdoor light trail is free for all to experience with seperate prices for the hot chocolate.

The "51 Nights of Twinkling Lights" will include fireworks during 26 of the days, totaling up to over 3 million lights throughout the whole festival.

President and CEO of Niagara Falls Tourism, Janice Thomson, said that it is exciting for all who visits.

“Niagara Falls Tourism is delighted to be recognized by Tourism Industry Association of Ontario. It is a testament to our fantastic partners, employees, and volunteers’ efforts to put on such a magical and memorable event every single year," Thomson said.
