WEST SENECA, N.Y. — Earlier this week we introduced you to Western New York's newest rising star, 15-year-old Sydney Sterlace.
The West Seneca West student stepped onto the world stage Monday night after her blind audition on NBC's "The Voice," leaving the judges panel of Gwen Stefani, Michael Buble, Reba McEntire, and Snoop Dogg all speechless.
2 On Your Side caught up with Sydney on Friday. We asked about the reaction she's been seeing since her performance before a nationwide audience.
While she got all four judges to turn their chairs, she said she knew all along who she wanted as her coach.
"I chose Gwen because I feel like we're similar in the way that we both started when we were young with singing, and I've always watched her videos and seen how much confidence she has on stage," Sydney said.
"I feel like one of the things that I don't have a lot of is stage presence and confidence, and so I felt like she could really help me with that."
Sydney started singing at age 7, and on Monday, she performed Olivia Rodrigo's hit song, "Drivers License."
You can follow Sydney's journey when new episodes of "The Voice" air every Monday night at 8 p.m., right here on Channel 2 and NBC.
