Jazz music fills the air in Buffalo

The Queen City Jazz Festival brought out both musicians and music fans.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Music fans got a chance to enjoy some jazz music during an annual event on Saturday.

Camille Thurman and the Darrell Green Quartet were among the artists filling Lafayette Square with the sweet sound of jazz on Saturday afternoon for the Queen City Jazz Festival.

The Colored Musicians Club and Jazz Museum sponsored the event, and organizers say that the festival keeps growing every year.

"When we first started out, it was strictly local bands," said Georege Scott, the event coordinator. "But as time went by, we were able to get more and more of the national artists coming in there, and the names are getting bigger and bigger each year. And the crowds are getting bigger and bigger each year. So it's becoming an event that I believe will be a nationally recognized festival."

2 On Your Side's Claudine Ewing and Alissa Clausell served as the emcees for this year's event.
