Halloween decorations fill lawns in Western New York

The Pabst family started setting up their Halloween display in September.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — There are plenty of Halloween decorations to look at in Western New York. One family from Cheektowaga takes the holiday to the next level.

Travis Pabst helped put up the Halloween display on 65 Cherrywood Drive in Cheektowaga. He said there are so many memories involving Halloween.

"Reminds me of being a kid in the 90's, going around trick-or-treating, you get to be with your friends, the neighborhood comes alive, and you get all the free candy."

He said it was elaborate decorations that stuck with him the most. "I always remembered the houses that went above and beyond," Pabst said.

Now, he's trying to create that awe for others. There are dozens of Halloween decorations on the family's front lawn. They started setting up their display in September.

"My wife and I got married before Halloween. We just loved it. Fall is our favorite and being younger with your friends trick-or-treating is a good feeling," Pabst said.

Pabst said it's become somewhat of a family tradition from start to finish.

"Every day when I pick [my kids] up from school, it's 'let's go to Home Depot,' because they want to get more stuff. It's turned into a fun family tradition."

Pabst even got creative and crafted some of the decorations himself. "The pillars, the tombstones, all that stuff is stuff I made."

After seeing the display, it may come as a surprise that Pabst isn't quite done with the decorations just yet. There will be even more additions to the front lawn as Halloween night creeps up.
