Groups break ground on wharf shelter along Buffalo River

This new wharf shelter will allow people to enjoy the area all year round. Once it is built, it will extend over the river.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Valley Community Association and Buffalo River Fest Park officially broke ground for the construction of their wharf shelter.

Buffalo River Fest Park was the beginning of the development along the Buffalo River.

This new wharf shelter will allow people to enjoy the area all year round.

"This is the perfect place," Mary Wilson of the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation said. "And a lot of great people coming together, and so a lot of great people landed here, and they're all coming together. And it's truly, truly people who work together here to build great things, and only great things are coming."

Once the wharf shelter is built, it will extend over the river, and it will be reminiscent of an old rail house, to tie in the history of the area near the Buffalo River.
