BUFFALO, N.Y. — One Western New York haunted house has been serving up scares as an act of service. Everhaunt Haunted House inspires fun-fear and also gives back to the community in the process.
Everhaunt is also celebrating a decade of being open. Ten years ago, Kevin Donovan, the director of terror, started making a haunted house as a Halloween party for a friend who is fighting cancer.
Since then, Donovan traveled more than 175,000 miles to collect props and learn from other haunted house experts. He now owns 26 semi-trailers filled with Halloween decorations. And in 2019, the Lake Street in Angola location officially opened.
"To go from a Halloween party for a friend fighting cancer to the 12th-ranked national ranked haunted house and always keep the community at heart is really, really cool. And we are proud of that," Donovan said.
Donovan said once the decorations go down this year, they do not wait until a month or two before Halloween rolls around to start planning. He said the planning starts now.
Everhaunt Haunted House is open on Halloween, October 31, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. This is the last full night of everything, including their newest edition, Delaware Creek Pumpkin Spectacular.
If you can't make it, they are also opened on November 4. It's called "Black Out Event." You get a glowstick and that's it. All the lights are off.
