BUFFALO, N.Y. — Getting up early on Thanksgiving morning is generally associated with food preparation but in WNY thousands get up early, dress up in costumes and take part in the annual YMCA Buffalo Niagara Turkey Trot . This year marks 124th Annual YMCA Buffalo Niagara Turkey Trot which is known to be the oldest consecutively run footrace in North America. The YMCA Turkey Trot is an 8K (4.97 Mile) run/walk that attracts over 14,000 participants each year. Participants are encourated to run/walk in costumes making this a fun filled holiday tradition.
The race start is at 9am and begins on Delaware Avenue & Tacoma Avenues, travels south on Delaware Avenue through Niagara Square to Church Street - to Franklin with the Finish line in front of the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

Registration is open and this event is always a sell-out! Visit www.YMCABuffaloNiagara.org for Registration Info. Registration is $36 per person. After October 11, 2019 the price increases to $41. This non-refundable registration fee includes all online processing fees and a commemorative t-shirt. Registration is available until race capacity (14,000 participants) is met. Paper registration is accepted through October 11.
The YMCA Turkey Trot is more than just a holiday 8K , proceeds raised from the YMCA Turkey Trot play a vital role in helping youth, families, and seniors access the resources that help them to learn, grow and thrive. Funds support YMCA programs and services accessible to kids and families who would otherwise be unable to afford them.
That's not all.... Each year the YMCA Buffalo Niagara Turkey Trot partners with WGRZ Ch. 2 and FeedMoreWNY for the Food2Families Food Drive. Each Turkey Trot participant is encouraged to bring 2 cans of non-parishable food items to Packet Pick-Up (Monday, November 25 and Wednesday, November 27 between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm at the Independent Health Family Branch YMCA, 150 Tech Drive, Amherst, NY) to help feed families in need during the holiday season. FeedMore WNY donation collection bins will be set up at all Buffalo Niagara YMCA locations throughout the month of November.
