UB announces 2024-25 Distinguished Speakers Series

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The University at Buffalo announced their guest speaker lineup for the 2024-25 Distinguished Speakers Series.

This year's speakers including Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham, Nobel Laureate Nadia Murad, American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Misty Copeland, and Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin. 

From October through March, the university's Center for the Arts will host the Distinguished Speakers Series, starting with an appearance by presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham on October 16. All guests will speak at 7 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre on the following dates:

  • October 16: Presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham
  • November 14: Nobel Laureate, United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, and bestselling author Nadia Murad
  • February 12: American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, philanthropist and New York Times bestselling author Misty Copeland
  • March 13: Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin 

"The remarkable speakers in our 2024-2025 season are helping us understand how the past shapes the future, championing fundamental rights and using their celebrity to positively impact people's lives," President Satish K. Tripathi said in a release.

Anyone who held 2023-24 series subscriptions will receive an email about how to renew their subscriptions for 2024-25. New series subscriptions will be available for purchase at noon on Aug 28. 

Individual event tickets will be available for purchase beginning at noon on Sept. 5. New subscriptions and individual event ticket orders may be placed through Ticketmaster or at the UB Center for the Arts Ticket Office
