Re-Imagined Ride For Roswell

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The original Ride for Roswell planned for June 27th has been re-imagined to bring our community together safely to support cancer care. The re-imagined Ride for Roswell is now the Summer of the Ride, a way to ride together but apart in order to raise critically needed funds to help patients at Roswell Park.

The Summer of the Ride will kick-off in Kaminski Park with a torch lighting on June 27th.  Throughout the month of July there will be team challenges to take part in, like the annual T-shirt and tent decorating contest, sharing stories and tons of ways to celebrate why we ride, all leading up to logging some bike riding miles in August.

Staying with current CDC guidelines, Summer of the Ride will organize small groups of 10 or fewer at physically distant rides in 20 minute time slots in multiple locations across the region on the first three weekends in August. More to come on reserving your time slot and locations.

Don’t want to ride in a structured format?  Ride whenever, wherever and for however long you want during August and know that thousands of others around WNY are doing the same. You can coordinate a date and time with your team members so that you’re all riding “together!” All concluding with a special closing ceremony on August 21.

Fundraising minimus have been eliminated for the Summer of the Ride, for those that had already paid the $20 registration fee, it will be credited to your fundraising page!

Learn more about the Summer of the Ride and register today by visiting rideforroswell.org or call 716-THE-RIDE (716-843-7433).  In 2019 the Ride for Roswell raised a record breaking $5,671,759.

During the month of April funds raised were allocated to support Roswell Park's COVID-19 Response Fund as there was an immediate need for support of patients and front-line workers. As of May 1, Summer of the Ride transitioned  to fundraising for cancer research and patient care programs.  The funds raised from the Ride for Roswell go directly to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that manages all donations to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. These funds help support the cutting-edge cancer research and full range of patient-care programs offered at Roswell Park. From researchers and physicians to patients and their families, everyone who joins in the Summer of the Ride is working together to reach a common goal: to end cancer.

WGRZ is a proud sponsor of the Summer of the Ride.
