BUFFALO, N.Y. — A new permanent sculpture was unveiled at the Buffalo Outer Harbor, and announced by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC).

The piece was designed by Buffalo artist Kevin Kegler and produced by Nickel City Metal Works. The art, titled "Start Over Again," is on the Greenway Nature Trail right by the Bell Slip.

Five chairs, brightly colored, are meant to encourage visitors to sit and engage with one another in different and uncommon ways. They are made of steel and wood.

Kegler said in a statement, “This sculpture utilizes the common forms of chairs as a means to play with reality. Altering the scale and relationship of these forms invites the audience to consider how we engage with this familiar object in a new way. This interactive sculpture gives visitors the opportunity to shift the physical as well as inner relationships we experience in our daily lives.”

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 25, a celebration is taking place at the site. Refreshments will be there, in addition to hands-on art activities. RSVP by clicking this link.

“Some of the world’s most outstanding talent is right here in Western New York, and the installation of Buffalo artist Kevin Kegler’s sculpture on the Outer Harbor is another win-win for our waterfront and our community," Mayor Byron Brown said in a statement.

Other art pieces in the area include "Round Man," which is on the Outer Harbor and is currently on loan. The "Shark Girl" sculpture and oversized "BUF" letters can be found at Canalside.
