Erie County Fair kicks off Wednesday

The 184th Erie County Fair kicks off the best days of summer Wednesday at the Hamburg Fairgrounds.

HAMBURG, N.Y. — On Wednesday, the 184th Erie County Fair will welcome fairgoers through their gates for opening day. 

The fair is best described as the best 12-days of summer and gives those visiting a lot to do and see. Opening day is also Channel 2 day and fairgoers who bring 4-canned goods to the gates will get free admission for the day. 

Gates will open at 11 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. everyday.  The midway opens at noon.  Parking is free and at the gates only credit/debit will be accepted to pay for admission, no cash.

What's new at the fair?

Reverse ATMs will be available at Gate 1, 4 and 5 for those who do not have a credit/debit card with them. Fairgoers can bring cash to the reverse ATM and receive a card to use at the gate and where credit cards are accepted around the grounds.

This year there will be a new contestants in the food showdown which includes a Polish Garbage Plate, Big G's Famous Texas Style Loaded Ribbon Fries, Piggyback Mac, and more. To view the full new food showdown contestants click here

August 13 will be 'Fairtacular Shopper’s Day' where a majority of retail vendors will offer special discounts throughout the grounds.

August 14 will be 'Share Your Fair Gate Discount Day' which includes two gate admission tickets for just $30 ($26.55 + $3.45 in fees). The special pricing is available online and at the gate on August 14 and only valid for that day. 

August 15 will be 'Share Your Fair Ride Discount Day' which includes two ride wristbands for just $50 ($48 + $2 in fees). Pricing will be available online and at the Strates Shows ticket booths on August 15 and only valid for that day.
