BUFFALO, N.Y. β This weekend people can take a walk down Hertel Avenue as it will be filled with food, drinks, shopping, and holiday cheer.
During the annual Hertel Avenue Holiday Walk on Friday, Dec. 1 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. shoppers can get into the Christmas spirit during the event.
A tree lighting with Santa and Mrs. Claus will kick off the night at St. Margaret's Church. They will offer those who attend photo opportunities, hot cocoa, and knit hats.
Hertel Avenue shops and restaurants will also be open and some will be offering discounts and extended hours on both Friday and Saturday.
The Vice President of the Hertel Business Association, Sal Dentico says it's one of the busiest events along Hertel Avenue.
"We do this to support the mom and pops that make our neighborhood a community," Dentico said.
For over 20 years the walk has brought the community together for holiday fun for all ages. It's an opportunity to enjoy the holiday season and shop for gifts from small businesses.
