BUFFALO, N.Y. — School is back in session this week, and Buffalo is welcoming new faces as well as returning ones!

This weekend at the University at Buffalo, students had the opportunity to meet new people, explore clubs, and take advantage of fun on-campus activities.

On Saturday, UB held "Campus Fest," a tabling event on North Campus with more than 150 clubs.

Student leaders shared their experiences with 2 On Your Side.

Jordan Manly, the Music Director of The Royal Pitches a cappella group, was one of those students two years ago to visit the group's table. This year, she represented them.

"It was really cool to meet so many girls who love to sing and see how excited they were to hear about what our group is all about. I remember going up to the same table my freshman year and I had no idea those people would end up being such an important part of my life," Manly said.

UB is a school with a very diverse population. According to their website, they had over 5,000 international students last year. In addition, there are also many commuting students from all around Western New York.

"Being a commuter, I knew I wasn’t going have the same opportunities to make friends as a lot of other students did, so I promised myself I’d join a club," Manly said. "I really hope that meeting our group yesterday helped someone else in the same position as I was."

Emi Ito, an incoming freshman, got to connect with others in her major who helped guide her.

"I am an environmental engineering major and met some older students because of the Engineers for a Sustainable World club," Ito told 2 On Your Side. "I met a senior who offered advice like how to study."

Victoria Travis is another student leader whose club, Communication Undergraduate Student Association, got to attend the fest for the first time this year.

"Attending on-campus events is the best way to get involved and meet so many new friends... there is truly something for every student!" Travis shared. "You only have four years, so why not try out everything?"

In addition to this event, UB hosted a "Glow Zone Dance Party" on Saturday night, and a "Welcome Back Blast" on Sunday night.
