Director Guillermo del Toro meets with Buffalo's mayor

Mayor Byron Brown confirms that the Oscar-winning director is shooting scenes for a movie here.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo is once again getting the Hollywood treatment!

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown confirmed on Twitter Tuesday that Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro is filming a project in the city. In the tweet, Brown says he met with del Toro at City Hall Monday.

del Toro won Best Picture and Best Director for the 2018 film "The Shape of Water."

Rumors have been swirling for weeks that del Toro along with actor  Bradley Cooper were scouting locations in the Buffalo area for a new film.

This all comes just after John Krazinski wrapped up filming his movie, "A Quiet Place 2" which was also filmed here in Western New York. That movie will premiere in March 2020.
