TONAWANDA, N.Y. — The Town of Tonawanda's iconic Paddock Chevrolet Golf Dome is back.
Golfers were up and swinging the irons early Friday morning, when the dome opened at 8 a.m. It had been shut down for replacement since June.
The old dome was 20 years old, but the town also replaced more than the inflatable shell. There is new turf and a dark back wall to allow golfers to track their balls a little better.
The golfers who turned out early Friday morning were excited in part because officials had hoped to reopen the dome weeks ago. But weather-related delays pushed back that date.
The golf dome will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily moving forward.
