1904 Pierce Arrow returns to Buffalo, goes on permanent display

This car is just one of two known to still exist. It will be featured at the Buffalo Transportation Pierce Arrow Museum.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A piece of Buffalo's automotive past is back in town, and this time it's for good.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Bill and Jean Irr Family Foundation, a 1904 Pierce Arrow will go on permanent display starting Saturday at the Buffalo Transportation Pierce Arrow Museum.

In his day, Buffalo's George N. Pierce was a manufacturer of some of the finest automobiles on the road. The car was built at his factory, where Canalside sits today.

What Pierce created what would become a status symbol around the world.

The stars of Hollywood, tycoons, and even the president rode in a Pierce-Arrow.

From Buffalo, to around the globe, and now back where it was built. This 1904 Arrow is just one of two known to still exist, and thanks to a generous donation, it will live here permanently.
