According to the National Weather Service, the effect of the storm on the city's downtown area is expected to be minimal, with only an inch or so of accumulation. South Buffalo is excepted to receive more snow during the lake effect snow event.
Marton said the city is prepared for the forecasted snow amounts as well as more snow that could appear.
"We know it's Buffalo, so we're prepared for that amount but we're also prepared for significantly more just in case that band shifts a little bit higher," Marton said.
The city is also been in communication with the state and although a state of emergency has not been put in place, New York State will offer resources when necessary. Marton said contractors will begin to clear roads this evening as the snow begins to fall.
