Escape the heat with Buffalo's cooling centers and splash pads

High temperatures this week are calling for Cooling Centers and extended splash pad hours

BUFFALO, N.Y. — As the temperatures rise into the high 80s and 90s this week, Mayor Byron W. Brown shared a list of twelve Cooling Centers that will be open in Buffalo beginning Monday, June 17.

In addition, he announced that splash pads across the city will have extended hours and will be open 11:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. until further notice.

City officials are also reminding residents that they can access two indoor pools in Buffalo, including the Cazenovia Pool and the Lovejoy Pool.

"These conditions will be particularly difficult for our elderly and young children. At the cooling centers, people will have access to drinking water, a place to cool off, and outlets in case they need to charge their phones," Mayor Brown said. "It’s important for all of us to take the necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated, but please keep an eye out for your most vulnerable neighbors.”
