CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s home was burglarized Monday evening, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
Burrow is the latest NFL player to report a burglary after the NFL issued a warning to teams last month about criminals targeting their homes.
The burglary happened just after 8 p.m. at Burrow’s home in Anderson Township, just outside of Cincinnati.
The incident report says an employee of Burrow told deputies that when she arrived to the home, she saw a shattered bedroom window and the room was ransacked. She called her mother, who then called 911.
“Someone is trying to break into the house right now. My daughter is there. This is Joe Burrow’s house. She is staying there. He’s at the football game," the employee's mom said in the call.
Deputies then arrived on scene and cleared the residence, according to the report.
Burrow was out of town when the burglary happened. The Bengals played the Dallas Cowboys Monday night at AT&T Stadium in Texas.
It’s unclear at this time what items were removed from the home.
The NFL issued a statement on Nov. 21 warning players that "organized and skilled" criminals are increasingly targeting the homes of professional athletes. Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce both had their homes burglarized recently.
Their homes were broken into within days of each other last month, law enforcement reports show.
Authorities noted these groups target the homes on days the athletes have games. Players were told to take precautions and implement home security measures to reduce the risk of being targeted.
