Weather prompts a change in plans for the Bills' halftime drone show

The weather, as it often does in Western New York, had something to say about tonight's halftime show.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills planned to use halftime as a showcase for the first-ever drone show at Highmark Stadium.

The weather, as it often does in Western New York, had something to say about that. The eight-minute drone show has been postponed, with the team citing poor weather conditions.

"Due to inclement weather and safety conditions in Orchard Park, the Sunday Night Lights at Highmark Stadium drone show has been postponed for this evening," the Bills said Sunday afternoon.

"The safety of our fans and partners is our utmost priority and we are committed to ensuring a safe and fun Sunday Night Football experience for everyone. We look forward to bringing the drone show back to Highmark Stadium in the future."

The Bills have planned something special for a Sunday Night Football game in back-to-back years.

Last year, the Bills handed out Crowdsync synchronized LED wristbands for a Sunday Night Football game against the New York Giants The blue light-up wristbands were used for a pregame light show inside Highmark Stadium for the Bills team introduction.

This year, it was supposed to be the drone show at halftime of Sunday night's game. Kickoff is still scheduled for 8:20 p.m. at Highmark Stadium. The game will be aired on NBC and Channel 2.

"The eight-minute drone show in partnership with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield will feature several Bills-themed formations that light up the night sky," the Bills said in a statement on Thanksgiving.

The Bills released a 28-second video teaser ahead of the drone show. You can watch the video here.
