Bollman, Nowakowski take oaths, join Buffalo Common Council

Both new council members say residents can expect to see them out and about and very active in the community.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Bryan Bollman and Mitch Nowakowski were welcomed into the ranks of the Buffalo Common Council on Wednesday.

Nowakowski represents the Fillmore district, and Bollman represents the city's Lovejoy neighborhood.

Both new council members say residents can expect to see them out and about and very active in the community.

"I'm going to be a council member that's going to be boots on the ground, that's seen in the neighborhoods, that's going to block clubs, that's going to meetings, and making sure that I have the pulse of the neighborhood," Nowakowski said.

Added Bollman: "We have beautiful Schiller Park, we have our Hennepin Center, so those are things I want to make sure that we're taking care of, those buildings, those parks. And creating a high quality of life for residents is really what I'm focused on."

There's a reorganization meeting Thursday.

Nowakowski and Bollman will take part in their first official Common Council meeting on Tuesday.
