TONAWANDA, NY- The town of Tonawanda mother of six who touched hearts around the world with her incredible sacrifice, struggles, and strength, has provided Channel 2 with an update on her health.
Kim Vaillancourt was diagnosed in December 2015 with a rare, aggressive, and incurable brain cancer. That diagnosis came just days after Kim and her husband Phil - who had two biological children of their own - officially adopted three more children. Kim was also pregnant and put off cancer treatment to protect her unborn son.

Baby Wyatt Eli was born April 8.
"Wyatt Eli is growing by leaps and bounds. He is loved by countless family and friends. He has been such an incredible blessing to the family," said Vaillancourt family spokesperson Jenna Koch.
Kim started treatment soon after Wyatt's birth. In mid-June, Kim completed 6 ½ weeks of radiation, mixed with chemotherapy. She'll continue chemo over the next 6 months and doctors do not recommend surgery for the tumors.
"We are praying that this round of chemo will ultimately do the trick and shrink the tumors so Kim can lead a long life," said Koch. "She is incredibly inspiring and an amazing young woman who perseveres every day. She has a gift to make anyone she encounters smile."
Koch, a long-time family friend, has issued the following statement to Channel 2, on behalf of the Vaillancourt family:
"The Western New York community and beyond has rallied together to support and pray for Kim Vaillancourt and her beautiful family. It has been several months since our last update, so we wanted to inform the community on how Kim was doing.
Her medical team has determined that the standard plan of care right now will be 6 months of chemotherapy. Kim will continue to be monitored by her health care team and at any time her plan of care may change.
Kim's spirits are high as she continues to be an inspiration to countless people.
The family is asking for continued prayers for Kim, her beautiful family, and their entire support system. The family appreciates beyond words the support they have received from their families, friends, neighbors, and community.
