Buffalo Turkey Trotters are used to challenging weather conditions but this year's race is shaping up to be pretty smooth.
Storm Team 2 expects the temperature to be in the lows-30s on Thanksgiving morning with a small chance for flurries when runners hit the streets for the 129th race.
Those taking part in the 8K event can pick up their race packets and bibs Monday, November 25 through Wednesday, November 27 from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm at the Independent Health Family YMCA, 150 Tech Drive, Amherst 14221.
Pre-race pickup is strongly encouraged but race day pickup will be available at the Delaware YMCA near the start line from 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
The race waddles off at 9:00 a.m.
According to the YMCA Buffalo Niagara Turkey Trot Facebook page, a "few spots" remain for this year's race. Last-minute runners can register here.
Around 14,000 are expected to take part. If you have signed up you can also confirm your registration here.
A virtual option is available for out-of-towners and those unable to take part in the in-person event. Virtual participants have the option to run, jog, or walk an 8k (4.97 miles) route of their choosing anytime over the Thanksgiving weekend.
