Peace walk planned for Buffalo arson site

Several community groups including the Buffalo Peacemakers are organizing a walk that will start at the site of a recent arson on the east side of the Queen City.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Peacemakers and several other community groups are organizing a peace walk for Wednesday, February 12th. It will start at 4:30 p.m. at 79 Kilhoffer Street.

The site was in the process of being turned into a community center when it was destroyed by arson in late January.

The Peacemakers group will be joined by the Stop the Violence Coalition, Buffalo United Front, Back to Basics outreach and the FATHERS group of Buffalo.

Organizers hope to be joined by members of the Buffalo Police Department as they go door to door to speak with members of the community and send the message that they will rebuild the center and not change plans due to the arson.

Buffalo firefighters say the arson caused $80,000 worth of damage to the building.
