BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo City Mission hosted the annual Hambone Express meal delivery event to help those who are homeless or living in poverty in WNY.
On Christmas Day, the annual event brought in 169 volunteers who provided over 3,000 meals to more than 639 households in the community.
A festive ham dinner with fixings was loaded up in vehicles and delivered to shut-ins, poverty-stricken neighborhoods, and the elderly in Buffalo.
Executive Director and CEO of the Buffalo City Mission, Aubrey Calhoun, shared how the Hambone Express is an important event for the community.
“The Hambone Express is an important event where we have the opportunity to make a difference,” Calhoun said “In the season of giving, the Mission is proud to give back to our needy neighbors. We are grateful to all the volunteers who helped make this event a reality so those in our community who need it most will have a Christmas Meal with all the fixings this holiday.”
This is just one of the many holiday deliveries done by the Buffalo City Mission throughout the year to help the poor and homeless.
For those on Christmas Day who are in need of a meal, the Buffalo City Mission welcomes you at 4:00 p.m. located at 100 East Tupper St. for a hot meal.
