Amherst Police respond to a road rage incident on Thanksgiving

Amherst Police responded to what was believed to be a road rage incident that left a victim with a gun shot wound to their upper thigh.

AMHERST, N.Y. — The Amherst Police responded to a road rage incident on Thanksgiving night. 

At 8:30 p.m. Amherst Police were dispatched to what was described as a "possible road rage incident" in the 900 block of Millersport Highway. 

Once police arrived at the scene they located a 24-year-old male who had suffered from a gun shot wound to his upper thigh. The victim was given aid and transported to ECMC.

Shortly after a suspect was found by Buffalo Police at his home and taken into custody. 

The suspect who has been identified as Keith Pritchett, 32, of Buffalo was arrested and charged with assault in the 1st degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree, and reckless endangerment in the 1st degree. 

Pritchett is being held pending his arraignment. 

The victims current health status is unknown. 

"The Amherst Police would like to thank the Buffalo Police Department, Twin City Ambulance and Eggertsville Hose Company for their assistance in the above incident." Amherst PD wrote in a press release.
