BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo woman has won a million dollars on a lottery scratch-off ticket.
Geni Miller, 62, won the big prize on the new Big Million ticket.
“I usually buy the new tickets when they first come out,” explained Miller. “I bought it after lunch and brought it back to my desk to scratch.”
Miller said she didn't believe she was a winner at first and showed her co-worker to confirm that she had indeed won. "I immediately put it my purse and drove down to the Lottery office to claim it," she said.
Miller chose to receive her her prize in one lump-sum payment. That means she will receive a check $524,004 after required withholdings.
What does she plan to do with the money? Miller says she's thinking about retiring a little early and buying a new house.
