TONAWANDA, N.Y. — Kim Vaillancourt, a wife and mother of 6 from the Town of Tonawanda, asks for prayers as she begins chemotherapy to fight brain cancer that has re-emerged.
Kim was diagnosed in December 2015 with Glioblastoma just days after adopting three children. She and her husband Phil had two children of their own and were expecting a third at the time. She put off treatment to protect her unborn son. Baby Wyatt Eli was born April 4, 2016, and he and all the children are doing well.
Upon her diagnosis, doctors gave Kim only about a year to live. She's clearly surpassed their expectations.

In August, Kim underwent new brain scans which showed a mass was growing. She had surgery have the mass removed, and tests showed the mass was cancerous.
Kim is now starting chemotherapy once again and will continue treatment for 6 months. She will have another MRI in 2 months to check the progress.
She posted the following statement on Facebook this week:
On August 23rd I had another surgery. This tumor consisted of dead cancer and some live cancer. The surgery was successful but has not been great to recover from (yet fantastic compared to the first one while I was pregnant with Wyatt!). I will start chemo tonight. And I will take the chemo pill for 5 days each month, for 6 months. Chemo can be exhausting and it really kicks my behind, but it is only a few days and then I get the rest of the month off. What a small consequence for God gifting me to healing again! He is awesome!! Please continue to pray for me, especially that I stay walking with Him for EVERY step of my life!
