DARIEN CENTER, N.Y. — Summer might be coming to a close, but Six Flags Darien Lake is giving water park lovers a reason to look forward to next year.
The theme park announced via Twitter Thursday morning the addition of a new water slide.
The Wahoo Wave will send up to four people at a time down a 30-foot tunnel slide, releasing them at bottom of the ride's signature feature—the water wall. Riders will shoot up the vertical obstacle, then fall with a certain sort of water-slide-weightlessness, before eventually landing in a splash pool.
“Six Flags continues to invest to make the park bigger, better and now wetter than ever with the introduction of a world class water park attraction, Wahoo Wave,” said Park President Chris Thorpe. “This massive attraction provides cool thrills and spills for the whole family.”
Construction on Wahoo Wave will begin in 2020 and is expected to be complete by the time the water park opens.
