Buffalo, NY -- Now that March has started, we can look back to see if February was in fact a warm one.
And data recorded in Buffalo in nearly a century and a half, shows February 2018 finished as the 6th WARMEST February on record.
The month received an average monthly temperature of 31.9 F which is well above the normal of 26.3 F.
In terms of snowfall for February, the monthly snow was barely above normal at 18.1" (still more than last year's 5" for the month!)
March 1 does start the climatological spring. So looking back at the climatological winter, including the months of December, January and February, the winter averaged out to near normal temperature at 27.2 F, just a little above the average of 27.1 F. January received an average monthly temperature of 24.2 F, the normal is 24.9 F. December received an average monthly temperature of 25.4 F, the normal is 30.1 F.
As for the climatological Winter snowfall, Buffalo received 83" of snow since Dec.1, which is above the average of 70" (and also above last year's 46.1").
