ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Like father, like son.
"We are seriously competitive," Frank Gore Jr. said. "We compete all the time."
Frank Gore Jr., the son of one of the all-time leading rushers in league history, hopes to follow in his father's footsteps in the NFL.
"It's easy because he did everything that I want to do in life," Gore Jr. said. "It was easy to just watch him and see the right things that he's doing, seeing the wrong things he's doing and kind of shape out my path a little bit off the things that he's doing that's good and bad."
Gore Sr. played for five different teams in his 16-year NFL career including the Buffalo Bills back in 2019.
"I was in high school so I was kind of older," Gore Jr. said. "I didn't really get to come to a lot of games but I came to three and I remember the fans are crazy."
Despite sharing the same name, position, number, and team, Gore Jr. looks to carve out his own path in the place he and his father had hoped he'd land all along.
"He had his career," Gore Jr. said. "I'm trying to shape out mine so I congratulate him and I'm proud of him for his career but now it's time for me to try to figure out my path and find success in the league."
However, Gore Jr., eager to start his journey in the league, went undrafted in this year's NFL draft, watching 257 other players get taken instead.
"They doubted me and they slept on me and it is what it is but now I have that chip on my shoulder," Gore Jr. said.
Now, after watching his dad score touchdowns in the stands on Sundays, it's Gore Jr.'s turn to make a name for himself.
"I'm just looking for a great career, just however it comes," Gore Jr. said. "I'm not going to put any labels on it because great careers come in different ways. However it comes, I'll be blessed and I'll be happy, I'm not gonna lie."
