BUFFALO, NY — University at Buffalo Athletic Director Allen Greene is heading to lead an athletic department at a Power 5 school.
Greene, who has spent the last five years with UB and the last two as the school's AD, is leaving the university to become the new Athletic Director at Auburn.
Auburn made the hire official on Thursday.
Greene took over for Danny White in 2015 when White accepted the AD position at the University of Central Florida
Before coming to UB, Greene worked in the athletics department at Notre Dame and Ole Miss.
Greene was a star outfielder for Notre Dame in the 90s and was drafted by the Yankees in the ninth round in 1998. He played in the Yankees’ minor league system from 1998 to 2001.
At Auburn, Greene will replace Jay Jacobs, who announced in November that he would retire this June or when a replacement was hired.
